The Perils of Geeking Out

Today's neglected todos go a little something like this:
  1. Research China language studies. [top]
  2. Resume Round Two. [top]
  3. Send transcription resume. [top]
  4. Water plants. [high]
  5. Illustration job read up. [high]
  6. Call ISIC, get refund. [medium]
  7. Cover letter, Round One. [medium]
  8. Illustration job sketches. [medium]
  9. Jobs and the Joker blog. [low]
  10. A conglomeration of other items. [low]
Several todos happily went home with check marks to validate their worth.

The rest were witnesses to the hijacking of their creator's attention by her itch to tweak and bend new technology to her will.

The culprit?

Thunderbird 3 and persistent content tabs!
(I fully embrace my geekdom.)

In my defense, I was tweaking the settings of this glorious program to get Toodledo's todos and Google's calendar on the same page for more efficient use. And look! Thanks to Netvibes, Stylish, and gobs of Googling...

Toodledo and Google Calendar are now sitting pretty next to each other on the same page in Thunderbird.

Aaand productivity can be collapsed for Google Reader!
Literally and figuratively.

I don't think I've ever reveled in such geekery on this 'art, travel and quirks' blog of mine. No matter. I declare this to be a quirks post.

As for the fact that I stared at Toodledo and Google Calendar for a very large chunk of my day without actually using them to accomplish the important tasks of my day, well...

Getting started really is the hardest part. Especially on tasks I'm not looking forward to. Combine that reluctance with my thorough enjoyment of tweaking things and you get what you see in this post. But hey, at least I have a foot (that is, half my monitor) pointed in the right direction. Seven tabs chock full of Monster.com entry level articles to give me advice!

So I declare that tomorrow will witness these todos heading happily home with check marks to validate their worth.

Any advice (or commiseration) to aid my quest would be most welcome.
